Information used by PetApp

Account information includes your sign-in email, chosen display name, optional profile information and authentication-provider identifiers. A personal full name entered in account settings is separate from the public display name. A business is represented by its business identity.

Content includes the pet information, photos, videos, posts, comments, messages, listings, Activity plans and relationship choices you provide. We also use membership and permission records, report evidence and account actions to operate these features safely.

Location information you choose to provide supports nearby search and Activity or business locations. Device permission controls access to device location. Review what you enter and the feature’s sharing context before publishing a location.

Technical information includes request and security information, device/app context, notification tokens and feature events needed for operation, troubleshooting and measuring feature use. Your device stores sign-in state, preferences, caches and recoverable drafts.

Use and sharing

We use information to authenticate accounts, save and share pet content, manage permissions, deliver messages and notifications, show relevant nearby results, support users and address safety concerns.

Information is shared according to the feature and audience you choose: for example public posts, authorized pet members, represented business members or conversation participants. Your private human identity is not the public identity of a business you represent. Reports are available to authorized review personnel, not the reported account.

Service providers support hosting, authentication, media delivery, maps and notifications. Processing may take place outside your province or country, including the United States, where applicable laws may differ. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or to address a safety or security incident.

AI safety checks for public contributions

When you give permission through the agreement action, public posts, captions, comments and their attached images or videos that you submit or edit may be sent to OpenRouter and Google’s Gemini AI service to check for violations of the Community Guidelines. Video checks include sound and may use extracted frames or a transcript. Content can include personal information you choose to put in the words, pictures or sound.

This safety pipeline does not send your sign-in email, private account profile, private messages or private pet posts. It strips embedded image metadata before AI processing. OpenRouter routes the request to Google; processing can occur outside Canada, including in the United States. PetApp requests provider routes that do not use submissions for training or retain their content.

PetApp records the permission version, the contributing account, a content fingerprint and the safety result. Unclear or flagged contributions stay hidden for human review; model failures are not account violations. Accepting updated terms alone does not send your older contributions for AI screening.

To avoid sending a contribution to this safety pipeline, keep it private or do not submit it publicly. You can remove or change the audience of content where you have permission, and contact support@petapp.ca about withdrawing permission or a safety decision. An action cannot recall processing that has already occurred.

Choices and retention

You can edit account and pet information where you have permission, use content and account safety controls, and change device permissions. Contact support@petapp.ca to request access, correction or deletion of your personal information.

The pet-first onboarding draft is stored on your device for up to seven days so you can finish saving it. Signing out does not publish that draft.

We retain information needed to provide your account and shared pet/business records, handle safety cases and disputes, or meet legal obligations. A deletion request is reviewed for shared ownership and required retention; information no longer needed is deleted or anonymized. Retained safety evidence is restricted to authorized access.

Children and safety

PetApp is a general-audience service about pets. If you believe a child has provided personal information in circumstances requiring its removal, contact support@petapp.ca. We assess the request and take the action required by applicable law.

Our Child Safety Standards explain how to report suspected child sexual abuse or exploitation. Do not send us copies of illegal images or videos.
